MoodPulse

For researchers

A high-frequency, low-friction mood signal — designed for transparent secondary analysis.

Last updated:

What we publish

  • Global, country and segment daily mood indices on a 0–100 scale.
  • A 7-day rolling trend per published bucket.
  • Documented suppression (k = 50) and 15-minute publication windows.

Design choices that matter for research

  • Single-item instrument. One 5-point face per day. Maximizes participation, limits depth.
  • Self-selected sample. Not a probability sample. Useful for time series, not cross-sectional point estimates.
  • K-anonymity. Any bucket below 50 contributors is suppressed.
  • Snapshot publication. Public values change only at 15-minute boundaries.
  • Whitelisted segments. No arbitrary field probing; consent-gated sensitive attributes.

Suggested use

  • Companion signal to slower instruments (Gallup, ESS, Eurobarometer).
  • Event-study designs around shocks (elections, disasters, policy changes).
  • Cross-country trend correlation, with country fixed effects.
